Really Good Chatbot Examples
Why We Built This
Welcome to Really Good Chatbots! Here, you’ll find chatbot examples from Drift customers that are, well, really good.
But why did we build this?
We’re obsessed with chatbots. And we wanted to help others building chatbots find inspiration. On this site you’ll find real-world examples from your peers and learn how they use chatbots to accelerate revenue.
If you’re wondering about our criteria for “really good” – all of these examples on the site utilize our Conversational Framework — Engage, Understand, Recommend.
Want to get involved? We welcome submissions of any chatbot. Our only criteria is that it has to be really good.
Submit a BotEngage Website Visitors
We recommend starting your chatbot journey here. In stage one, marketing and SDR teams use chatbots and live chat to engage visitors and book meetings.
Gong: Engage All
https://www.gong.io/What makes this a good chatbot?
Engage
Gong engages the website visitor with a cheeky hook that draws the site visitor in.
Understand
Once engaged, the bot asks the site visitor a few follow up questions to see why they are on the site and how the bot can best guide them in the right direction, as well as understanding if Gong is the right fit for them.
Recommend
Site visitors who are a good fit for Gong are recommended to chat with sales or book a meeting. Those who aren’t ready to book a meeting or need more information on Gong are guided towards best practice content.

Brandwatch: Contact Us
https://www.brandwatch.com/What makes this a good chatbot?
Engage
The bot offers a clear way to avoid filling out the form and waiting for a response by offering a direct way to a human.
Understand
The bot understands the high intent of someone willing to fill out a form and share information with a company.
Recommend
Since the visitor has already done some research and is looking for more tailored solutions, the bot’s primary CTA is to set up some time with the sales team. For those who aren’t ready for a conversation yet, there are options to learn about more industries or continue browsing.

PTC: Pricing Page
https://www.ptc.com/What makes this a good chatbot?
Engage
When a site visitor lands on a pricing page, there are likely many questions they have as they navigate the page. PTC engages the buyer on this page by asking if there are questions they can help with.
Understand
The bot understands what the site visitor is looking for and provides options for those with specific questions and those just browsing.
Recommend
PTC then recommends their team follow up with interested site visitors and provides more information for those not interested in a sales follow-up.

Target Potential Buyers
After building 3-5 stage one bots, you’re ready to start building out your stage two strategy. In stage two, marketing and sales leaders align to better target buyers by using personalized messaging to increase engagement and qualified pipeline.
Lessonly: Paid Ad Converter
https://www.lessonly.com/What makes this a good chatbot?
Engage
This bot hook acknowledges that the buyer has come to the site via an ad and offers to give them more information.
Understand
The bot goes on to understand how they’d like to learn more. For those ready for a meeting, the bot qualifies the site visitor. This bot has a great qualifying path - asking only a few questions and keeping it conversational.
Recommend
Finally, the bot drops a calendar for qualified site visitors. For those who may not be a great fit for Lessonly, the bot shares the typical contract price and shares a video with more information. If they are still interested, the bot drops a calendar.
Wake Forest University: Conversational Content
https://business.wfu.edu/What makes this a good chatbot?
Engage
The hook acknowledges the site visitor's interest in learning about graduate programs and engages the site visitor with the offer of finding the right graduate program for them.
Understand
The bot goes on to tell the site visitor they will be asking a series of questions to determine if they are eligible for the offer outlined in the hook. It then asks relevant questions to the site visitor to determine the best recommendation.
Recommend
After determining eligibility for their offer, Wake Forest recommends a meeting with their team.

Connectwise: Personalized Retargeting
https://www.connectwise.com/What makes this a good chatbot?
Engage
The bot acknowledges that this is not the visitor’s first site visit, which is important for a successful retargeting experience.
Understand
The bot understands that a repeat visitor might be further along in their buying journey than a first-time visitor and designs the conversation accordingly – by making it easier to chat with sales.
Recommend
The bot recommends the primary CTA of speaking to a sales team member, capitalizing on a repeat visitor's increasing interest. For those who are “just browsing” it lets them ask additional questions.
Accelerate Deal Cycles
If you have both stage one and stage two examples live on your site, you’re ready to move into stage three. In stage three, marketing and sales leaders create a pipeline acceleration strategy using chatbots that personalize every step of the buying journey to shorten sales cycles and close more revenue.
Zenefits: Website Concierge (AI)
https://www.zenefits.com/What makes this a good chatbot?
Engage
An automation website concierge bot is designed for those visitors who might be on your first time or ones you are trying to learn more about your company. The bot keeps the hook simple and acknowledges the visitor’s pain.
Understand
This is an AI bot, so it is able to respond not just to button-based responses, but also open text. It knows that the options offered might not cover the bases for every single visitor.
Recommend
The bot recommends next steps based on what the visitor types into the open text field. The visitor asks about pricing and the bot is able to offer pricing plan info, while asking the visitor to share more information about themselves.
Zenefits shortened their sales cycle from 6+ months to as short as 12 days with Drift Automation. Read their story here.

https://www.drift.com/What makes this a good chatbot?
Engage
This AI solution bot engages the site visitor by offering an interactive way to test out the solution.
Understand
The bot uses automation to understand what the site visitor is looking for. Once it answers their question, it continues to guide the site visitor with buttons and offers the site visitor to type in a question.
Recommend
The bot recommends a chat with our team. It also acknowledges not everyone is ready for a sales conversation — for those site visitors the bot recommends relevant content.
